MMORPG.com Managing Editor Jon Wood had the chance recently to sit
down and speak with the folks from Mythic Entertainment about
yesterday's update 1.1 and specifically about the changes that were
made to the Open RvR system. In this interview, the team discusses the
changes, ORvR vs. scenarios, their intentions for feature balance and
more.
Patch 1.1a, the biggest update to Mythic Entertainment's Warhammer
Online: Age of Reckoning since the game's launch back in September, has
made a number of additions to the game, including: the introduction of
two of the four classes that didn't make the cut at the game's original
launch, new open RvR rewards, scaled difficulty public quests, and
quite a bit more.
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to sit down with a number

Mythic Entertainment has published the patch notes for the 1.1a patch for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
Quests and Public Quests
* A Taste of Their Own Medicine: Players will now receive proper credit for the quest condition when firing the Eagle Claw.
Realm vs. Realm
* The focal point of our new Open RvR Influence system is mortal
combat between players of enemy realms. In order to ensure that
player-versus-player battles provide the best source of Influence in
the Open RvR areas, we have adjusted the amount of Influence associated
with capturing Battlefield Objectives, Keeps, and Fortresses. We have
only adjusted the values for offense, i.e. capturing an Objective. The
values for defending an Objective will remain, in order to encourage
players to reap the benefits of ...
Turbine has published a new dev journal which takes a look at the Foundations of Stone in Lord of the Rings Online: The Mines of Moria.
This deepest region of Moria is a shadowy abyss, a chilling, vast, and strange place made of twisted stones, woeful waters, and creeping fog. Horrifying monsters haunt these dark cracks in the earth, lurking amid swollen and glowing mushrooms, hiding in the shadows beneath strange arches and spurs of living rock. Down here, as far from sun and sky as it may be possible to get in Middle-earth, the screams of agonized heroes echo far and wide.and still go unheard.
Do not abandon hope when you enter here. Hope may be your only protection against the strange perils of this land.
Into the Deep Place
The Foundations of Stone are so called because they make u ...
Turbine has posted an overview of The Twenty-first Hall on the Seventh Level of the mines of Moria.
The Twenty-first Hall of Khazad-dûm lies on the Seventh Level of Moria, leading away in many directions including toward the Second Hall and the Bridge of Khazad-dûm. Off to one side, a passage leads to the Chamber of Mazarbul, the dwarves'' hall of records, though it passes now for the tomb of Balin, son of Fundin.
The Twenty-first Hall was once a mustering hall, but has lain empty since the fall of Moria - though recent stirrings may change that. Recently, the Balrog of Moria came to the Twenty-first Hall seeking the first true challenge to his power since the deaths of Durin and his son Náin.
Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien''s The Lord of the Rings will recall that the Company of the Ring cam ...

MMORPG.com World of Warcraft Correspondent Robert Duckworth writes
this overview of the Winter Veil Christmas event in Blizzard's World of
Warcraft.
The Feast of Winter Veil is coming soon, beginning on the 15th of
December to be exact. "Santa" (Greatfather Winter) will once again be
loitering around Orgrimmar and Ironforge while ordering up loads of
gingerbread cookies in exchange for small presents. Metzen will find
himself captured and held for ransom yet again by two different hostage
takers at the same time. And that abominable snowman, rampaging through
the silence of the Alterac Mountains with his stolen horde of Smokywood
Pastures' treats that must be recovered at any cost.
MMORPG.com World of Warcraft Correspondent Marie Brazeil writes this
voerview of the Death Knight hero class in Blizzard's World of Warcraft.
I know for a fact that a lot of WoW subscribers had stopped playing
a good while before the launch of The Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
I was actually one of them! I had grown very tired of the guild drama
and silly mistakes while taking down Akil'zon (the eagle boss) in
Zul'Aman. And eventually I just decided to try other things. Warhammer
was just coming out at the time and I hopped over for a couple of
months. But eventually, the call of Warcraft started to seep into my
being and as the launch of the new expansion neared, I found I couldn't
resist the urge to finally play a new class in WoW, the Death Knight.
Now please understand ...
Because who has not watched Conan the Barbarian with Arnold
Swartzanager (last name is hard :(. ) and not laughed after he puches
the camel?! Who has not wanted to be tottaly ripped and cut people in
half?
I certianly think they had all the right ideas for the game, it was
really revolutionary, but it was done in by its compilation, or how it
was all put together. The director (thank god hes gone) was a good
idealist, just not a good... director. The grafics were good, the
gameplay was not. The lore was good, the bugs.. were not. The classes
though unblanced were good, but the armor, and items for those classes
were not.
They fired that guy though,
i logged in just yesterday and found that i was able to PvP (kinda)
There were not that many bugs left (kinda) and that there were ...
A game I was lucky enough to get on the 1st Tech test. I tested the
game each Sunday and downloaded new stuff each time. I spend hours and
hours trying to get the buggy buggy alfa running on my PC and I was
successful most of the time. But this was hard work. This was a game I
dedicated more time to then any game in years.
I was then invited into the closed and then open betas. Where I,
among many many loyal fans, dedicated many hours to logging bugs,
exploits, crashed, etc. Personally I logged well over 300 bugs during
the various test phases and I am quite sure that many more people
logged simular numbers or many more.
The game went life and I went in whole heartedly. Doing more
testing, reporting more bugs. Helping more players and helping friends.
Levelling and enjo ...
